“What are you doing here?” she asks.
Zoey hesitates to materialize her shin-kal. They are demonic creatures but they’re too cute.
Hearing her, the magpie flies away, looking for a hiding place. The tiger hides his face with his paws.
“Dawww! Don't worry, I won't hurt you. Let's see what's so interesting on my laptop.”
Sussie is landing next to Derpy. She pecks him gently to get him to take his paws off his face. Zoey looks at her computer. On the screen, near the taskbar, is a cute cat and a counter reading 100,005.
“What's that?” asks Zoey.
Derpy makes a soft sound in response. Sussie lets out a loud squawk. This startles Zoey. Zoey looks up on the internet. The cat is Bongo Cat, a virtual desktop pet, a male cat that counts keystrokes and mouse clicks.
“That's nice,” she said. “I'm willing to keep him installed.”
The tiger and the magpie are happy. The bird starts typing again with her beak.
“Careful, careful!” said Zoey. “You might break the keys!”
At the same time, Rumi and Mira enter her room.
“Huh?” Mira asks.
“Can you please tell me what’s going on here?” Rumi asks.
Zoey simply smiles at the other Huntr/x.
